Narrative
This is my dog, Lexus. She is a Shih Tzu (SHEET ë - zoo). I got her three years ago when I went to the mall with my dad to get a taco, and we found a cute ball of fluff in the pet store. I brought her home and she was running everywhere. The best thing is she does not shed. It has human like hair instead.
Lexus is real agile and runs quickly. One day, I threw her squeaky bear
(named Bo-Bo Bear) at the heater. She burned her nose and will not go near
the heater again. Lexus and I love to play Tug Of War. She always
growls and shows fangs when we play this game. I think fetch and tug of
war are Lexus' favorite games. One day, Lexus and I were taking a walk
around the street and she got loose. She ran and ran. Lexus is too
fast for me to catch, so I had to bribe her with a bone. Lexus also likes
to play with our pigs. She always wants to walk me to their pen.
When we get there, she sticks her head through the fence. They must think
she is a pig, so they kiss each other. She loves any and every animal she
has met and always wants to give a nice, wet kiss!
Heredity
From the information from Lexus's papers, the golden white is recessive. That means that her color must be (rr) or recessive-recessive. I believe that is why most Shih Tzus are black, so they must be either (Rr) or Dominant-recessive, or (RR) Dominant-Dominant. I know about this Heredity theory from my Science teacher, Mr.Holt. We just studied Heredity in this class.
Historical Background and Geographic Origins of the
Shih Tzu
The Shih Tzu originated in a temple in Tibet mountains that are located in China. It was given to a king who lives there. It was his birthday and he wanted a small, cute, fast, and a new breed of dog. He also wanted a nice loyal dog that would keep him happy. He hated it at first and then got close to it. He named it with a Chinese word called Shih Tzu. Shih Tzu means "Lion Dog". You may agree with me as the way it looks. The "Lion Dog" got its name by the flowing hair on its face. He loved it so much, he did wall paintings of it. People believe it originated with a cross between the Tibetan Mountain Dog and the Pekingese (PECK ' - in - ease). In the 1930's, it was brought into England for the king. After World War II, the Shih Tzu came to the United States with a military officer. In 1969 the AKC (American Kennel Club) recognized the marvelous breed!
