Chrystle

Narrative

This is Chrystle a two and a half year old dwarf rabbit. Her fur is soft and gray. When we bought her at National Pet in Plymouth she was only eight weeks old. I chose her because the other two rabbits weren't as healthy as her. Chrystle loves to play. She'll play with just about anything you give her. If you put a beach ball on the floor, she'll push it around in a perfect circle.

Chrystle loves people. She will do anything for attention. She will hop circles around your feet until you pay attention to her. If you're sitting down, she'll jump onto your lap. My dwarf rabbit can also be funny. She'll hop as fast as she can, jump really high, and crash into the wall at the other end of the room. Chrystle used to do that more often than she does now, but occasionally she will.

Heredity

Chrystle is a hybrid dwarf rabbit. I didn't know at first whether she was purebred or hybrid because when we bought her, we didn't get any information on her heredity. I found out about her heredity because I looked in my Dwarf Rabbits book on the section "How to recognize a purebred Dwarf Rabbit." It showed all the signs of being either a purebred or hybrid dwarf rabbit. She had some signs of being a hybrid, but no signs of being a purebred.

 Rabbit Information

Historical and Geographical Background

Rabbits originated in Europe and northern Africa. People used to keep rabbits only as pets. Now some people keep rabbits as pets and for food. Rabbits are relatives of hares. Although they are relatives, the hare is bigger and has much longer ears than rabbits.

Rabbits have no weapons, but they have three main things they use for surviving. One thing is their long ears so they can hear their enemies coming from a long distance. They have strong hind legs so they will be able to hop away quickly. They also have protective coloring which is also known as camouflage.
