Buddy
Narrative
This is my pony Buddy. I got him in January of 1999. When I got him, he was skinny, and abused with scars on his face. Now he is living a much better life because he is so fat that he waddles! He is also very pushy! He is anywhere from twelve to sixteen years old, which is young for a pony. Buddy is chestnut, which is a very light brown, with three white stockings, or tall patches of white on his legs. He also has a big white belly, and a blaze down his face, which is a wide strip of white.
He is a very good jumper because he can jump about three feet and six inches. Also, he is bomb proof. Bomb proof means that almost nothing can spook him! He also is a very good trail horse. He is thirteen hands high. A hand is four inches wide. That would be about fifty-two inches tall.
He is a very funny pony because he gets very mad if I do not give him a horse treat every day. Sometimes he gets more if he has been a good boy. Also, he follows me around everywhere in the corral. Buddy is a very personal pony, and he loves people! He is one of my best friends.
Heredity
I think that Buddy is a Quarter pony, which is a breed. I think that because he fits all the characteristics. Also, the most popular color is chestnut, and he is. Besides being the color called chestnut, his mane and tail are called flaxen. Flaxen is made up of all the colors that horses can be, such as white, black, chestnut, and yellow. Some of the characteristics of the Quarter pony are muscular hindquarters, a short back, wide feet with an open heel, having small ears and a small head, and a short arched neck. That is the heredity on my pony Buddy.

The History and Geographical Origins of Buddy
I think my pony Buddy is a Quarter pony, which is a breed. The
Quarter pony is similar to the Quarter horse, only smaller. The maximum
height for a Quarter pony is 14.2 hands high, which would be 58 inches.
Their body is very compact and they have a good disposition. Most
Quarter ponies average size is 13.2 hands high, which is 54 inches.
Quarter ponies are deep and broad chested. They have a short back
and well rounded feet. The Quarter pony's hindquarters are deep,
broad and muscular. They stand with their legs under them, this explains
their ability to move quickly in any direction. They can stop and
turn with ease and balance. Also, they are very collected.
The Quarter Horse, the breed that it originated from, developed in Virginia
and the Carolinas in the United States in North America. The most
popular color of the Quarter Horse is Chestnut. Quarter Horses are
also strong and powerful with a short back. They also have sloping
shoulders. That is how my pony's breed, the Quarter Pony, originated.
